چکیده

Protein A (3, 8) and the clumping factor (bound coagulase; 1) of Staphylococcus aureus share common characteristics, yet, to our knowledge, they have not been compared to determine possible identity. Both are protein, antigenic, cell surface components of S. aureus but not of S. epidermidis, and both are released into the culture medium as growth develops. Protein A is a common agglutinogen of serologically diverse types of S. aureus (5). Clumping factor also occurs as a common antigen in various S. aureus strains (7). Clumping factor-negative mutants which are

Construction of a New Fusion Protein Vector Associated to Fibronectin Binding Protein A and Clumping Factor A Derived from Staphylococcus aureus NCTC8325

Objective(s) Staphylococcus aureus is a leading cause of many nosocomial and community acquired infections. According to many reports, antibiotic therapy can not guarantee the eradication of S. aureus infections. Thus designing an adhesin based vaccine could restrain the S. aureus infections. This study designed for construction of a new fusion protein vaccine against S. aureus infections base...

Reliability of latex agglutination tests for identification of Staphylococcus aureus resistant to oxacillin.

Commercial latex agglutination tests (LATs) for the simultaneous detection of clumping factor and protein A are gaining increased acceptance as a means of identifying Staphylococcus aureus. We evaluated two LATs (Accu-Staph; Carr-Scarborough, Decatur, Ga.; Staphaurex; Wellcome, Dartford, England) with particular emphasis on their ability to correctly identify oxacillin-resistant S. aureus. We t...

Role of Staphylococcus aureus coagulase and clumping factor in pathogenesis of experimental endocarditis.

The pathogenic role of staphylococcal coagulase and clumping factor was investigated in the rat model of endocarditis. The coagulase-producing and clumping factor-producing parent strain Staphylococcus aureus Newman and a series of mutants defective in either coagulase, clumping factor, or both were tested for their ability (i) to attach in vitro to either rat fibrinogen or platelet-fibrin clot...

Two Dimensional Structural Analysis and Expression of a New Staphylococcus aureus Adhesin Based Fusion Protein

Objective(s) Staphylococcus aureus is a foremost source of numerous nosocomial and community acquired infections. Antibiotic therapy for vancomycin resistant S. aureus (VRSA) can not promise the eradication of infections. Since adhesion is the major route of infections, adhesin based vaccine could suppress S. aureus infections. Fibronectin binding protein A (FnBPA) and clumping factor A (ClfA)...

Staphylococcal Clumping with Soluble Fibrin Monomer Complexes

Clumping reaction, using standard suspension of Staph. aureus Newman D-2-C strain and various substrates, was quantitatively tested. It has been shown that clumping occurs in fibrin lysate containing soluble fibrin monomer complexes unclottable by thrombin. The reaction was positive with staphylococcal strains possessing clumping factor regardless of staphylocoagulase production. Clumping react...
